Comedy Carhole This Friday, Oct. 3
I’m really excited to be returning to the Comedy Carhole show in Santa Monica this Friday. It’s been nearly a year since the last time I was there, and had a blast. It takes place in a garage in Santa Monica, with a makeshift stage and funky couches and beat up old chairs for people to sit on. Oh, and there’s a keg, and no cover charge and a great audience full of NORMAL PEOPLE not jaded comics. There’s nothing like it. Come check it out.

Un-Cab Lab Show Oct.
I’m happy to be doing some time at the next Un-Cab Lab show at the M Bar in Hollywood, on October 9th, at 8:00 pm.
The Un-Cabaret is one of LA’s longest running alternative comedy/storytelling shows, and the Lab is an ongoing workshop for performers and writers to work on new material. It’s awesome.
Please come by and check out the show. The presenters are always top-notch performers and writers. Again, the show starts at 8pm (arrive early to get a great seat). There's no cover, but theres a $10 food minimum. The food is great, so no loss there.
The M Bar is located at 1253 Vine St, Los Angeles, CA 90038. Here’s a MAP.

Draw The Pirate is Flyp Flix eMovie
I feel honored that that my short film “Draw the Pirate” was selected for the Flyp Flix eMovie a few months back. They were also cool enough to put up a video of me briefly describing the impetus behind the film’s creation. I look stoned don’t I? I’m not stoned. I’m sitting at my desk trying to write something....anything...worthwhile.

Orange Country Chronic Con
This is another segment I did recently for Attack of the Show, with the extremely funny WIll Bowles. I was channeling Dan Akroyd, and the host Chris Hardwicke comments on it somewhat afterward (although Akroyd is from Toronto).

Tomorrowland Spaceman: My Dream Job
I’ve finally realized what I want to be when I grow up, and it’s gonna be a challenge: I want to be the Spaceman in Disneyalnd’s Tomorrowland circa 1957. That guy had everything: cool outfit, cool ride (a rocketship called the TWA Moonliner...how cool is that?) a sexy space WOMAN to hang around with
He’s got such a cool, classic sci-fi spacesuit, silver lamé with padded rolls and some sort of communications device on his belt, and an awesome helmet with the antenna. The spaceman’s role seems to be ambassadorial (Hey, space is great folks, you should try it!) although I think he had to shill for Kaiser Aluminum (the sponsors of the Hall of Fame from 1955-1960).
At the end of a tough day doing whatever he did the Tomorrowland Spaceman even had a Space Bar to go to.
Who did he talk to on that communicator belt? Walt Disney? Guss Grissom? JFK? I love the optimism of early Tomorrowland. A post-war, pre-Nam American where anything was possible.
This shot below is amazing. Surrounded by Cub Scouts, looking very fligh-ready. Telling the boys to drink Ovaltine and study calculous and they can be Spacemen too.
Here he is hanging out with your aunts and grandmother, posing nonchalantly like David Niven. The spacesuit is more streamlined, no rolled sleeves, communicator belt or even gloves. Space girl’s outfit is missing the cape and frilly skirt previous girlstronauts wore.

Super Donut Man on G4
I appeared today on Around the Net, a great web viral video review segment on Attach of the Show. I think I show up about half way through. The hosts are either left speechless, or they have donut in their mouths. Enjoy! I had fun doing it!

"Draw the Pirate" Wins Crackle Shorts Contest
This is a fun first entry on my new blog layout. I was just notified that my short film “Draw the Pirate” has been selected as the Spring 2008 winner of the Crackle Shorts Contest. The prize includes some do-re-mi, a trip to Los Angeles (wait, I’m already here) and pitch meetings with the folks at Crackle and Columbia Pictures. I saw many of the other films in competition and they were all stellar—a better selection than any film festival I’ve attended.
I really love Crackle. They always have some kind of contest going on to help discover and promote filmmakers and producers. And even though they’re a SONY subsidiary and are promoting SONY content, they do a great job of foregrounding user submitted content (unlike Myspace). There are really great people actively curating the content, and searching the web for great stuff. It’s an honor to be selected.
